4 speed shifter- need ideas
4 speed shifter- need ideas
Well, ive just about got my 350 done in my garage, and my 4
speed/bellhousing are waiting to be slapped onto the engine, but i still
need a shifter. Its for a 1980 z28 camaro, and ive been searching through
jcwhitneys, jegs, ebay, and a few local autoparts stores...and have yet to
find one i need. I dont know if im just overlooking or if im looking in
the wrong places.
Any help would be appreciated :)
Thanks
What exactly are you looking for? Street or strip? Style maybe?
Just a hint, try Summit as well, they usually have some good stuff. If
not, do a search on google and possibly find a private company that makes
them. Just a few suggetions, hope it helps.
im mainly looking for something that works, and isnt too expensive...i know
shifters are expensive...but some of them are 300+ and im not looking to
spend that much money on one.
Edit: I just found a hurst comp shifter on summit, 170$. But does that
come with the rods and everything? The tranny i bought only came with
bellhousing, no linkages, or brackets.
I think Oreilly's car performance book or whatever has a Pacesetter slapshifter in it for like 80 bucks or something. I don't know much about shifters and older cars though so I'm not really that sure of what you're needing.
my saginaw 4 speed only came with the bellhousing and shift forks...i need everything else. Rods/linkages bushings, mounting bracket and the actual shifter. Im not concerned about performance or "hurst" as long as i can find a decent shifter and kit for less than 200$
i would start with B&M. call the company and ask them about their products and tell them what you need. im sure they can help you. and i bet they can find something in your price range. just a suggestion.
Masuk thanks for the suggestion. I called summit earlier today and they hooked me up with a universal shifter with linkage, for $120. Thats alot better than 240 for a hurst :) Thanks to all of ya for the help
