The Speedometer on my 86 Toronado might be fubar!
My 86 Olds Toronado is wonderful except for one little problem. I have one of those digitalized speedometers :doh: , and it works great most of the time but every once in a while it starts being crazy for a sec then it goes to zero. It does this one in six times while I am using the car, usually when I accelerate while going downhill. If anyone knows what is wrong(ie is a mechanic/carjunkie) or has had a similar problem please give me some advice. PS the other digital readings are in good order!

could be a faulty speed sensor theres 2 listings one on the tranny and one one the instrument panel look atthe pics and see which one you got

ok but now my whole instrument cluster has gone black. Do you know how much this would cost to get fixed

To buy one from scrap yard you will have to pay more then $250. There is company that is repairing it for little bit under $200. I do not know if it is O.K. to post a link, so if you need it (link to their web site do search on google or ) contact me via e-mail. I am having same problem, but i will try to gather more information and try to fix it my self.
