whistling 1997 Taurus
whistling 1997 Taurus
My 1997 Taurus posted a code of insufficient EGR flow.
I swapped out with new egr valve two years ago and i heard whistling
Because my emissions test is due this year with the state in two months
I took it off the intake manifold and noticed it had one missing valve
gasket.
Bought two new gaskets and found the whistling dropped about 95%. It will
still give a quick little "peep" in a much less noticeable whistle but am
concerned it will cause the check engine light to come back on. Should I
just get a whole new EGR valve and have it be OEM? Should I be OK for now?
I just want my car to pass this year's inspection. Massachusetts has a
really tough emissions control policy and the amount of time since you last
reset the engine light and the type of driving conditions the car's
computer has stored.
Please help.
