Can ball joints cause car to shake at 70mph?
Hi, I recently did an inspection of my ball joints on a 96 pontiac sunfire
because it was vibrating/shaking at speeds of 70 and above. I had already
had the driveaxle, tie rods, shocks/struts, brakes, and tires replaced and
the problem still remains. I also had the alignment done and a balance job
as well. The car also pulls to the left.
Anyways I found that the ball joint booths are both torn severly, they just sort of crumble it you play with em and seem to be smashed between the control arm and knuckle. So if they had failed would they be able to cause an substantial vibration problem above 70mph? Because the car rides fine at 65 and below.
