Engine misfire monitor

Home  \  Repairs & Maintenance  \  Engine misfire monitor

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0. engine. I have replaced plugs, wires, coil, fuel pump, idle contol solenoid and throttle position sensor. The engine will drop about 500 rpm's with no set pattern. I have a check engine light on with code p1309. What would be causing the problem? Thanks Djan

P1309- Misfire Monitor Disabled

Description: When the misfire monitor is disabled, usually due to the input signal generated by the camshaft position sensor (CMP), by sensing the passage of teeth from the CMP wheel.

Possible causes: Camshaft position sensor, Powertrain control module, ECT, MAF, and CKP sensors

Diagnostic Aid: Verify the CMP is installed correctly and is not out of synchronization.
