93 Escort overcooling

Home  \  Repairs & Maintenance  \  93 Escort overcooling

My 1.9L escort will barely get into lowest end of "normal" on gauge after 30 minutes of driving. I don't think it is a defective gauge...the heater air is barely warm. I have:

1. Flushed coolant repeatedly and replaced w/ 50/50 mix.
2. Replaced thermostat with new one.

What to try next? Another t-stat?

Thanks, Doug

Your first try should've been in the Introduce Yourself thread...all answers and help comes after the introduction.

My name is Bill...helllo. Nice to meet you all....

I am about to tackle a similar problem with my 95 Escort wagon. It appears that there is a bypass in the thermostat housing that could potentially be the problem. Other research I have found states that replacing the housing with a 91 escort housing will do the trick? Anyone know about this?

The best info we can give you at this time is that intros are done in the "Introduce Yourself" section.

You'd best head off to the introduce yourself section post haste. There seems to be a bit of reluctance in assistance if you don't follow the proper channels.

Live and learn :D
