I have a question.

Home  \  Repairs & Maintenance  \  I have a question.

I have a 700-R4 transmission, does the tv cable have something to do with all the shifting or is it just the down shifting? The reason I'm asking is because the tv cable is pulling away from the plastic cover where it goes into the transmission. the cable is starting to fray. It takes alot of rpm's before it shifts from 1st to 2nd and is shifting hard but after that it shifts just fine.
If someone could help me I would appreciate it.

Yes, the TV cable directly affects downshifts, upshifts and shift quality. If your cable is frayed and the housing is damaged, get a new one on it ASAP. Not doing so will seriously shorten the life of your transmission.
