Hello All,
I have a 1994 proton GE, today I was driving along and all of a sudden I
was unable to speed up past 30 miles an hour even though I was putting my
foot down and this happened throughout the gears, the car seemed to have a
loss of power, I managed to get home and turned off the engine.
When I turned it back on again it would'nt start... not even turn over. I
left it for 30mins and came back to it and it started first time no
problem. I then turned it off again and restarted it and it would no longer
turn over again.. there was just a clicking noise. I've done it several
times now and each time it does the same... starts first time but not the
second time etc...
When I had the car running I turned on the headlights and revved up the
engine, the lights didn't brigthen, they just stayed at the same
brightness.
Does anybody have a clear idea of whether the problem is the battery, the
alternator or the starter motor.
I thnak you in adavance for your advice and look forward to hearing what
people have to say.
Cheers

i would think it is the alternator, but I don't see how the battery could
be charging itself, allowing you to start it later. Does it have a volt
gauge?
Since all three of these items are pretty easy to have tested I would start
there.
and of course, it could be none of these things.
