So before I install my speakers and get into a whole mess of trouble trying
to wire everything together and come back here to ask you guys,
here are my questions:
My front speakers are 3.5" so you know, the smallest crappiest possible. my
back are 6 x 9 so I bought a 60W(300W max 93db) set for those, and a
25W(75W max 91db) speakers from the front. What happens when I install my
head unit and it's output of max 50w goes to the front speakers and the
back at the same time, do the front sound crappy and the back amazing? Is
the only solution to adjust the settings so 75% goes to back, and 25% to
front to try and fix it, or should I look online for higher quality front
speakers? But can I really expect to get higher quality from such a small
source?

for instance, check out these 35W RMS speakers

I figure if i bought these, it would improve upon my 25W significantly
enough?

You can adjust the front and rear balance (75-25), by using the fader on
the radio.
You should get better quality from stronger speakers, but you will only get
as much as your radio can deliver, meaning that after a certain volume
level you might end up with sound distortion, but it's not because the
speakers can't handle it. The distortion won't come from the speakers, but
yes from the radio. (that is providing your speakers are of higher wattage
than your radio's amplifier.)
To get the real listening pleasure out of stronger speakers, you need an
amplifier. The radio's amplifier is not very powerful. Example if your
radio is 50x4, you wil be getting 25x2 in the front and 25x2 in the rear.
Which means it is 12.5 to each speaker.

the box says 16RMS and i talked to a guy who said that since it's alpine it
tries to keep the wattage down in order to retain quality sound, whereas
other radios might go to 22RMS but degrade alot on the quality. I'm going
to install my new speakers and see what happens on friday, im hoping
they'll just be great, i dont need alot of attention-getting sound anyways,
my neon does that enough...

Adjusting the fader is the route I would take. It doesn't have to be 75-25
just turn the dial until it sounds good. I have a nice set of pioneer 5
1/4s in the front of my acura, and cheapo depot 6 1/2s in the back.
Generally I run the fader 1-2 pts to the front simply because even though
the backs are bigger and can handle more watts (350W is what is says) the
fronts sound better louder.
