it is a 96 dodge avenger ES. I went to the mechanic shop after the
transmission slips. Actually what is happening is that in the morning when
i start the car, it doesn't go into the drive or reverse for sometime. But
then when i paddle on the gas, then with a hiccup it goes into either
reverse or Drive. then when i continue driving it, it changes gears with
some hesistancy. but once the car is warmed up, the car rune just fine.
Could it be the transmission, it has around 177000 miles on it. I also
tried putting the oil which is thick to stop the transmission slip. It used
to work earlier but this time it of little help. I went to the mechanic and
there was transmision code alongwith the misfires of cylinders.
I recently changed the 3 spark plugs by myself..i changed it because when
ever i stopped at the stop sign..the car was vibrating a little bit and it
loks like it is going to stop. But since i changed the spark plugs...the
problem is reduced to a gr8 extent.
In last month or so i have driven it almost 1400 miles....w/o any
problems....but now the transmission hiccupps are a lot....I haven't had
the transmission service....could u suggest me something..or do i have to
get a new transmission....please help me out on this

have someone who knows what they are doing look @ the car and give you a
proper diagnosis and cost for repair.
