hi all. can anyone tell me why my 98 escort revs at 3000, when starting
takes ages to come down,then climbs back up again, goes on for about 5
mins.:banghead: much worse when weather is warm. help thanks. Richy

Idle Air Control/Throttle position sensor would be my guess. Not sure which
one the escorts have, probrably the TPS tho. Any check engine light or
codes?

hi thanks for reply. no other signs at all, but if i drive off before it
comes down to approx 1200 revs, when i pull off throttle it revs higher or
stays at around 3000

I dunno about that, if it runs a little bit after you shut it off it's a
timing issue. Doubt it tho, probrably wouldn't over-rev if it was. Sorry I
can't help you more. If the idle bounces it's more than likely the TPS.
Otherwise I'm not sure.
