Tach gauge not right

Home  \  Repairs & Maintenance  \  Tach gauge not right

Hey there,
How is everyone, I need help with my 1995 Plymouth Acclaim, This vehicle is fully loaded, and has a 3.0 litre engine and a 4 speed automatic transmission, 4th been the over drive,I just purchased this car and no work has been done on it yet by me. My problem is that when I stop at a light or stop sign in drive the tack reads 250-300 RPMS if I put the car in park or neutral the RPMS increase to about 500, The car does not hesitate, or sputter in drive, in neutral there is a slght miss. I think that the 250 rpm reading can't be right as it is to low for the car to run and idle smoothly, the odd time the tack drops down to an almost zero reading.
