I have a '97 Dodge Neon that I recently replaced the head gasket on. After completing this and putting every back to where it was I am getting a squeling sound from the power steering pump when I first start the motor and turn the wheel after pulling out of the garage (It lasts about 5 seconds tops). Once I am going it won't squel again until it is parked and has had a chance to cool off. Any suggestions on what to do with this? I would hate to have to replace the pump just for this.
Regards to everyone.
It's possible you got some crap on the pulley and/or belt. Try cleaning both with alcohol(rubbing) and use a belt dressing or replace the belt. :2cents:
Not to mention what Lectroid said, but did you get the belt torqued correctly.....sounds to me like all you need to do is tighten it a little. Belts are funny, try cleaning the pulley and tightening the belt. Report back!
