i have a 74 chevy nova and it has a stock fan that runs on a belt. in the
hot HOT, summer my car runs pretty hot while driving in the city or stuck
in traffic. so i have decided to install an electric fan. i was wondering
once i switch to an electric fan, what do i do with the stock fan. i know i
need to take it out, but do i leave the pully and use the same belt, or
should i take it out and get a smaller belt?
i was also wondering if anyone knows what the standard temp for my car is. usually on hot days the temp is at 170-185 on the highway, but on the streets its around 200-210.
thanks for your help, nate.
Hi, if you are going to install a elc. fan ,you might put it in front of the rad along with your reg, fan ,now it should run in the 180 to 190 range, that is with a 180 thermastat, you might want to get your rad boiled out .or replace it with a larger one. Good luck Slim :screwy:
