i need some serious help...how in the world do you get the water pump off of a 91 ford escort lx?????
The 1.8L, 1.9L, and 2.0L SOHC engines all require that you remove the timing belt cover and timing belt to acsess the water pump. Only the 2.0L DOHC engine has a water pump that runs directly off the drive belts. You'll probaobly want to go to the library and check out the repair procedure in a hanes manual or buy one at a local auto parts store.
I agree with buying a Haynes or Chiltons. Make sure you know the proper procedures for getting the crankshaft and camshaft timed properly. be sure to budget plenty of time. I took 6 1/2 hours when I did a timing belt and water pump on a 1986 Mazda
