Flex muffler to avoid changing catalytic convertor
Having just received good advice here about my 1999 Camry's water problems
- I fixed the hose and solved the problem - I'd like to ask the next
While fixing the A/C hose, I discovered that the muffler needs replacing. The garage says that as it has a catalytic convertor, it will be $600 for a full replacement, but that they can cut out the front section and install a flexible replacement for $160. It will hold for a year or two, at which point I'll need a whole new muffler.
It sounds to me like it may not save any money in the end, however. Am I better off just replacing the whole unit now?
