My transmission went bonko recently. Here is what I know:
When shifting from 1 to 2, it chattered like a solenoid being energized repeatedly. I stopped and it made the same noise engaging reverse.
Since then, there is no reverse and forward shifts from 1 to 4 only.
I replaced both of the shift solenoids. I still have no reverse. I haven't tried forward yet.
I have rebuillt a few transmissions but I am not familiar with this one.
Does anyone have any ideas?
This sounds like a typical problem with the 4L60E. From your description
you're now going to get the opportunity to learn how to rebuild one of
these. It's very common for the reverse drum splines to separate from the
drum. The spline is only tack welded into place and will come apart with
no warning with the exact results you describe. The bonus of this deal is
the tranny has to come ALL the way apart to change the drum. Lucky you.
As for familiarity, think of it as an eloectronically controlled TH400.
Oh, and by the way, you're welcome asshole. :fu:
Your'e slowing down in your old age.
