97 Taurus will go into gear but will not move

Good evening to everyone...My 97 Taurus was working fine until about 2 days ago...I drove it and all was well, got to the store came back up, started it, put it in gear, hit the gas and it does not move...It will not move forward or backward...It is an automatic (don't think they come in manual). Any ideas or help is greatly apperciated. Thanks.
