My car is cutting out at any speed. Code comes up 42 which is bypass or electronic spark timing circuit which in turn tells you to check crank case sensor or camshaft sensor. I'm thinking crankshaft position sensor. How big a job would this be, or do I need a professional?
Hey Ultradave, that seems to be a common problem to the earlier GM 3800 series motors. Replacing the cam/crank sensor(s) isn't something that requires vast technical experience, but rather requires patience because in some bodies they are difficult to see/remove...If my memory serves me correctly I had to replace a cam sensor blindly on a '91 LeSabre. Good luck with it, hope this helps.
