77 Hornet, need to know the name of part

Hello everyone, I am new and need help. My brother has a AMC 1977 Hornet, 6 cylinder 2 barrel. He has found a part causing a short/battery drain. The problem is he has no idea what it is and my car savy neighboors don't either. I was wondering if anyone here could help me out. I have taken a picture and attached it. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and thank you for any help.

Autozone and Checkers don't know what is is either.

Hi ,just takeing a wild guess,looks like a relay to me ,try takeing it to a real parts house like napa ,where they have guys that know more than how to just sell you something, good luck Slim :banghead:

Thankyou all so very very much for your input. I can't stress enough how much I appreciate your help. My brother needs this car to work.

Here are 2 more pics, compressed and shrunk of course using Paint Shop Pro 9 and Jpeg save optimizer to get the quality as good as possible for the 100 K limit. Sorry, I'm a computer nerd.
