1994 Lincoln Cont. alternator replacement
I have a 1994 town car and it seems that the alternator is going bad. this morning it seems as though I was running on the battery. It looks as though I remove the three bolts and then the belt and remove the old and replace the new or rebuilt
it is correct?
Essentially yes... but there are a few things to be careful about.
First off, be sure to disconnect the battery before attempting the alternator repalcement. Belt removal is most often accomplished on modern vehicles by moving a spring-loaded tensioner, which may require a long-handled wrench or bar to apply sufficient leverage. Inspect the belt while it is off, and replace it if damage (cracking along or across the spine, ply separation, etc.) is evident. Finally, be sure to properly connect the wiring to the new alternator.
