Question Ideal Getaway Car

You need a getaway car in urban environment. You need an inconspicuous car but fast and reliable, and to protect you from eventual shootouts. What make and model would be your ideal getaway car (and why?) and what kind of modifications would you do for:
  • Speed
  • Handling/Cornering
  • Brakes
  • Lights
  • Anti-pursuit systems
  • Bullet proof
  • Etc.

I'd go with a Ferrari F2005. Try to get a bullet into that thing.

i'd go with either a caterham r500 evo or lotus elise. probably the r500 because it only weighs like 1000lbs and can go 0-60 in the 3's. and as far as armor i'd just get a bulletproof vest.

I'd probably take a BMW M Coupe: small, fast, and has great handling! (plus that engine note is sweet!)

You could always good for the concept Ford Synus, it is small but bulletproof, so you got your armour.

Over here in Wales UK armed robberies are not very common. However a fortnight ago a armed robbery took place in my home town and a Evo 400 was used as a getaway. Police are still looking for them and the car. Why argue with something that works. For that reason for me it would have to be the Evo 400

Call up a few dealerships and ask them.

Lol. "Hello. I would like to know which one of your cars would be best to rob a bank." "Why?" "Umm... No reason...." That will go over well... he he.

Didn't one of the famous '20s or '30s bank robbers actually write a letter to Henry Ford praising the power of his V8? A google search suggested it was John Dillinger, but I didn't find a copy of the letter.

Anyway, I'd have to go for stealth and an early '90s J body in a boring color. Maybe a Chevy front and a Pontiac rear if you want to get creative. Leave the witnesses saying "uh, he was medium height, medium build, medium hair, medium car. . .

Granted, a light vehicle precludes any conflict: you're never going to ram an impala or a crown vic and drive away. Nevertheless, it's essential that the car be non-descript. Have you seen the google satellite pictures? As much fun as the souped-up Hummer would be, the ride would be short; they'd watch you from the sky. How about a custom suspension and motor in a Dodge Caravan with faded maroon and wood-grain paint?

I would consider a bike a possibility. Very fast, very good handling, braking, and you could go between cars. The main problem would be a lack of storage space for cargo/goods, and if the coppers could catch up to you they could ram you.

They dont usually ram bikes. That creates a high risk for the driver, which po-po's dont usually want to have happen.
