Some questions regarding Chrome platting and Powder coating.

This is only my second post so be gentle
1-I was just curious which is better chrome platting or powder coating?
2-Does a chrome platted surface get corrosion if it is placed in a humid environment?
3- How long do these processes last on the surface their applied to?

Well for number one only you can answer that by what you like better and what kind of look/finish you want. And a chrome plated surface should only get rust/corrosion in humid or wet environments if it has scratches or nicks in it which the water or moisture can settle into. Same with how long each process will last depends on how they are treated, what their put on, the environment around, etc. I hope i'm right and that it helps.

I would say chrome plating is better and no it doesn't corrode in humid weather, my friend had it and I live in Florida and his didn't corrode, it is 2 years old too

"EDIT" It only corrodes when the moisture gets into nicks and scratches as car_crazy89 said

I also like chrome and would rather that but not everyone thinks the same. Its hard to say what someone else might want or think look better. Chrome+Black=Beautiful.

So basically if one takes care of it and keeps it from getting nicked to prevent moisture entering it then it should last for ever?
Cus the way I figured it was that the purpose of using chrome platting was to prevent corrosion from happening is that true?

Well as far as i know nothing lasts FOREVER, but it could last a pretty long time if taken car of and not abused. I dont know about the chrome plating to prevent corrosion, gotta let someone else answer that. I dont think it makes too much of a difference about chrome or powder coat and which protects better, i think once either get nicks, dings and little scratches then theres chance for corrosion/rust to start to form. I would think though that the powder coat might blend it better but chrome would look nicer when kept clean.
