What is the best purchase for under $18,000?

After I graduate, my parents are giving me $18,000 to spend on a car... but what should i get. I've brainstormed some of what I thought would be the best, but thought I would get some other people's info:
Dodge SRT-4
Audi TT
Honda S2000
Acura RSX Type S
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
Nissan 350Z

What should it be?

Get the 350 if you can find one for 18000, and if you couldnt get that I would get a Z28

What exactly are you looking for in a car? Will you be bringing it to the track? Modding it? From the limited info. and your list I would pick the S2000. You might also want to look at a Camaro/Trans Am (mentioned earlier), Mustang GT, or a C5 Corvette. Personally, I'd take the Vette over an S2000 anyday.

I am basically looking for the fastest car I can get for 18k, but I don't want it to be shitty on the inside, would like it to be nice as well.

Out of that list I'd get the S2000, for $18,000 you might be able to pickup a decent mileage 00 or 01. But if you're going to this as a daily, the S2000 probably isn't the best idea, as it doesnt offer a lot of room. The Type-S has a fine interior and is a good daily driver but still packs a good sporty punch. The 350Z is also a good choice. If you need four doors look into the SRT-4. Could easily get a slightly used 04 or 05 for $18k.

MY favorite pick would be a 98-02 Camaro SS. Backseats are pretty useless but a decent enough daily that isnt too harsh but still packs on hell of a punch.

My picks and reasons;
RSX-S; Great daily driver, good handling, nicest interior in all the cars you've mentioned, good gas mileage, like other said; lacks punch.
S2000; Great punch, handles like no other, decent gas mileage, but horrible daily driver; its a very stiff ride.
350z; Great punch, decent handling, really nice exhaust note, mod potential, horrible gas mileage, horribly cheap interior for such an expensive car(even the current gen has a worse interior then most Civics)

Overall; i would go with the RSX-S, its a great daily driver, and if it lacks punch, you could always add modifications, but bad handling and gas mileage is a harder thing to fix.

I didnt choose the SRT-4, because im worried about its reliability in the future; and its emissions, it may not pass the emissions test later on in its life.

It depends...

Just a few questions.

-What are you looking for out of your car?
-Do you live in a region with where inclement weather is common?
-Do you foresee a need to carry more than 2 people in your car?
-Does this car need any semblance of practicality at all?
-How much gas are you willing to spend per week?
-How much money are you willing to pay to insure it?

I am preferably looking for the fastest car i can for 18k, but also not a peice of crap on the inside. I live in the Sacramento area which does not see any snow or extreme weather conditions. My parents are going to be paying for my gas and insurance for awhile so that isn't an issue for me right now.

Given the situation I would get e C5 Corvette. Good acceleration, and good handling. The are somewhat notorious for having a cheapish interior, but I wouldn't call it a piece of crap. Corvette buyers just get angry when their 50K has many of the same interior pieces from cheaper Chevys. If you're not a Chevy man there's also the 03-04 Cobra, but I don't know if you could get one for 18K, same goes for and STi/Evo.

Those are all nice, but I'd choose either the

Dodge SRT-4,
S2000,
RSX-S, or the
350Z

Not sure if you can get some of those for under $18K though...

My personal favorite would be the RSX...relatively luxurious, fast, and handles nice...
