Post Rubbish Driver

Hi Every1,

I have been learning to drive for the past 3months, I have bought a ford fiesta J reg 1.3 & I just can't master how to change the gears.

Are you meant to press the clutch down all the way to change gears? (in which I do & get this loud revving Noise!)

Please some1 advise the best technique in how to change gears without a loud noise and the car jerking forward when I do

youll get, as you press the clutch--let off the gas. Take your time and dont get too frustrated. When I was learing with a '85 Ford 150 (inline 6 & Muncie SM454 *i think* trans) I spent 30min at a 4 lane 4way light trying to make a right turn I was frustrated and my problem was that the trans was in 4th and i thought it was 2nd

Press the clutch peddal all the way to the floor, then shift the gear lever. It might take some to to master the sequence, but once you get the hang of it, it'll become second nature!

I'll move this, too. By the way, where in the UK are you from?

Push clutch in all the way after you let off gas, shift gear, let clutch out and give it gas before it catches, simple

Is it bad if you don't press the clutch all the way to the floor? On my car, I press the clutch only about half way down.

You're kidding me, right? I mean if you have to even ask that question it tells me that you have zero experience behind the wheel or you're a motor vehicle operator, not a driver.

+1....when I was learning how to drive a manual I first watched how my dad did it and took note of how everything came into play, this is what I suggest he do due to the fact that it seems like he has never even SEEN someone do the fancy footwork
