diesel turbo differences

what are the differences between diesel turbos and regular turbos? can i run a diesel turbo in a regular car?

Different "trim", usually a higher wastegate setpoint (eg 15 psig). Because a diesal produces less exhaust mass flow and the turbine needs to provide more torque for a given engine displacement than a petrol one, you should tend to ballpark a suitable recipient petrol engine at about 66% displacement of the donor diesel.

Of course if doing the maths then A/R, trim, etc will be specific to your engine.

I have succesfully used diesal turbo's on petrol engines and prefer the higher wastegate setpoint to give me less throttling range for closer pressure regulation in the twenties.

i know you said 66% but if I stuck a 5.7 liter TD turbo on a 2.4 L galant do you think we would have meltdown?

You got a map of the turbo? I doubt the turbo will melt as your exhaust shouldn't be getting any higher than 900C with correct fueling. Unless the turbo has been running on half a bank, then it is probably going to be too big and laggy.

i guess i should probably drop drop the diesel turbo idea and just pull a small one off a LeBaron.

Pro Ceed

So can you put a turbo from a 1.6l crdi pro ceed into a 1.6l petrol pro ceed??
