going to buy a new 'used' car

in about a year for my 18th birthday, and i was wondering, which car i should get? I want somethin that is fast and reliable. Where i live, gas is above $3.00. I was thinking about getting a mustang, but im not sure how fast they are. Id say my price range is to about 10 grand.

Just saying "Mustang" is too broad for us to tell you how fast it is. You need to specify years and engines. A mid 90's six cylinder is a dog, but an 03 Cobra is quick in my book. Some Mustangs can be ruled out by your price cap, but you still need to specify a little more.

In a year? Why not wait 11 months and get back to us... a lot can change a year from now

well, i mean, since im going to be getting a job very soon, i figured id just make payments on a car, instead of waiting a year and paying fully.

Ok, well ive heard civics are great on gas too. Civics are so common in the town i live in though. I do suppose i could buy a spoiler, body kit, and extra performance parts.

Spoiler and body kits will just make it look it tacky. If you're going Civic, keep it stock, save for maybe window tint. It's your car, but that just my opinion.

They are great on gas, very reliable, and can be quick, but they are not stock.

its illegal to drive with them on in the night because they distract other drivers. I think that they would be cool to have for when i go to park my car at night in a parking lot and turn them on.
