Advice needed

Alright I'm currently driving a 2000 Ford ZX2 I got right before my senior year in HS. Its got about 75,000 miles on it, and I'm looking to get rid of it.I don't race or anything like that, and use the car basically for everyday purposes. Im considering the following.

2004 Infiniti G35 Sedan 27,500 miles $24,000
2006 Pontiac GTO 15,700 Miles $25,000
2007 Ford Mustang GT 10,000 Miles $26,000
2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 15,700 Miles $22,000

2007 Ford Mustang V6 17,000 Miles $17,000

Obviously the first 4 are a step above the last one, But is the difference between them really worth $8,000? Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you're not into racing or anything, I don't see why you're looking at these particular cars. You're paying a higher price on the car, higher insurance, and paying more for gas when it doesn't seem like you'll be using the performance. Me, I'd go for a GTO, even though that price seems high seeing as dealerships around here are asking 28K for brand-spanking-new ones.

I agree with what giant016 says.. as in if you just need a box thats going to get you from point A to point B... you should just get a corola or something... good gas milige... cheap insurance.. low theft rate.. and cops don't pull you over as often..

but looking at the cars that you have chosen looks like you dont care about the price that much and you want a sporty car for its looks... I would say go for the G35..

GTO might be cool looking and a bit faster.. but after all it's a GM which means its a gas eating unreliable monster.. which is going to start falling appart once you have around 60+k miles on it.

Hmm...LS1 F-bodies can get 30mpg. Show me an import that gets that mileage, has a back seat and 350hp stock that can touch that. There won't be many, and they probably won't be nearly as cheap. The LS2 GTO has 400hp, and is 28K. How much is a new stock import going to cost with that much hp? I can't think of any for under 50K. So unless you manage to rack up 22K more in repair bills, it seems like you're coming out ahead.

You need to stop blindly following stereotypes. The LS engines are some of the most reliable performance engines around. You can easily make 500hp without a turbo or supercharger, and the block and internals will probably still be fine. Put 500hp into a Civic engine and we'll see if Honda reliability holds true.

Thats very misguided, ignorant, and rude. Not all GM's are unreliable, actually the majority aren't. The LS engine is one of the best engines out there right now. They make some of the most fuel efficent vehicles for the power produced. 400hp and 25mpg is phenomenal. The G35 is getting maybe 1 or 2 points better on the highway, but has 100hp less and probably 150lbft less of torque. Having owned both imports and domestics, I appreciate both, but to say a modern GM is going to fall apart by 60k, consume and be unreliable, is extremely biased and only showcases your misunderstanding of the modern automobile.

To respond to the original question though. I would skip on the Mustang 26k for a car you can get new for 25k is kind of steep. The GTO is a good year and probably a pretty good deal. The eclipse is FWD and in my opinion not a contender. I would consider seriously the G35 though as well as the GTO. I don't like the lines of the G35 sedan, I like the coupe, and they will only go down in price now that the G37's are coming out. Maybe a BMW or a Lexus might be a consideration too?

well buddy here are my 2 cents:

Out of all those i would most defenetly go with infinity no questions asked but i would prefer a coupe of course, my brother has it, very reliable, fun, 4 passengers comparing to nissan 350z 2 seater, and a descent mileage for a v6 and has a lot of different cool electronic features that will keep u comfortable, happy and safe.

My friend has a 2006 GTO, just got it, and holy shit that thing has so much tourge, you will never get sick and tired of it but thats if you love pure american LS muscle

If you put a s/c on the gt mustang then that would be one hell of a ride but thats it, never rely on ford, im sorry but its just stupid, i had 3 of them and never again

My boss at work has the new eclipse not gt though but that thing rattles like a mo fo, very cheap feel to it.

So i think if you got that infinity (just think about it, infinity...not just another chevy ford or honda) you would be really happy with it

My next ride will be Infinity G37
