If you decide to keep your engine, there are a few things to make it faster for not very much money.

Full Exhaust - Headers and a full catback system. This will improve engine breathing.
New Intake - This will help your engine breath better.

If you want to spend more money, you could buy a new turbo etc.

Of course you lost to a WRX! Those are pulling 227 hp and you may have either 180 or 200, I dont remember what Audi 1.8Ts pull... Either way you were fairly beaten. Just do some more work!

About the exhaust: the quicker the exhaust can get out of your car, the better, and the quicker you can get are into your car (intake) the better. Both add HP.

Well if you have the unlimited funds...then go all out...build your motor ie make it stronger for more boost, then go big turbo and all the goodies that go w/it

Have fun

If you have unlimited "$$".. then go get some really strong, forged internals, a T-75 turbo pushing 30psi (at least), a full stand alone engine management system, a street/strip racing clutch, lightwieght aluminum flywheel, a GLI 6-speed transmission, Boost controller, turbo timer, the biggest intercooler that will fit in your car, super sticky toyo proxes RA-1's, full custom 3 inch turbo back exhaust, 3 inch turbo piping, custom low restriction wastegate, Koni adjustable coil overs that lower you car 2 inches and increase spring rate and damping by at least 60 percent, some nice fat rear and front sway bars and strut tower bars, light wieght plexi glass windows, fulll roll cage, stripped interior, remove all seats, have one sparco EVO racing seat, carbon fiber hood and trunk.

and just for bling:

MOMO sterring wheel and shift knob

At least... thats what I would do!
