The new Shelby GR1!!

I want to know what people are saying about this new Shelby GR1. Not to sway your thoughts or anything, but I think Ford has really out done themselves with this car. The body is so perfect and smooth! The interior is a little wierd I think. With a 6.4L engine pumping out 605 horses (which only needs to push 3900 lbs) the mph is over 200. This car is for sure going along side the GT as a Ferrari killer. Check out this web page and found out everything you need to know, along with some sweet wallpappers.

Not really impressed. Looks like a late 60's model vette. Not bad-no cigars. Just an opinion.

I really like it. It's a great modernization of the Shelby Cobra Daytona, with a bit of modern Aston thrown in for good measure. It supposedly uses a lot of the bits from under the GT and is slated to follow the GT as a limited edition car, but at a little lower price point (about where the other tribute to the Cobra Daytona, the Viper GTS, is priced at).

We'll see if it's going to actually happen, and how close the production one miorrors the prototype.

Looks nice, it'll definetly be fast as hell, but 3,900 lbs sounds a little high.

I like the look of the gauges.

Meh...

interesting but a bit funny looking overall in my book, I'll have to agree with Hobo here and say not bad, but no cigar. Also the weight thing also sticks out too.... 3900 lbs on an aluminum body seems slightly odd, although with the engine it is gonna have who knows. Will be interesting to see where the go with it.

That would be awesome! If Ford actually could accomplish the very difficult task of getting their car to weigh less than 3000 lbs, it would be a highly competitive car.

Even the 2nd gen RX7 was over 2500 lbs (the '87-91 RX7 Turbo was 2800 lbs), as was the 3rd gen RX7. Making a useable production performance GT like this much under 3000 lbs isn't really necessary. 3000 lbs is a good weight to be fast, agile, safe and comfortable, especially with the kind of engine we're talking about here.

They need to try to stay close to the roots of where the Daytona and Shelby came from...

Light weight w/big motors = fast and scary!
