I don't know the laws and so on where you are, however, I have called a local dealer parts department where I buy parts from regularly before and explained to them that a customer had brought a vehicle to my shop and I had somehow lost the key at my shop, Given that they know me personally they were able and willing to cut me a new key, for a small fee by using the vin number, I suppose as long as the lock cylinder hadnt been changed for some unknown reason you might try to find a local shop owner who could make a few calls and call in a favor for you, Many things are possible if you can find someone willing to bend the rules.
