"CP" View on Used Volkswagen and My Final Decision on a Used Car

Well as many of the car-forums members already know, im always doing research on used cars because i myself am in need of a reliable used car, i put a lot of time in looking for the best cars i can get for my money. That would honestly satisfy me in the long run. Without having any sorts of mechanical problems. I initialy always had a love for european marks, from the time i reached my teens i had experienced with '96 Jetta3, '01 Bmw 330i, '98 bmw 528i, '00 C-230 Kompressor, '03 C-240, '03 E-320, many of the cars listed i drove on and off for around 2 years, mainly because they were in my family. Take in to consideration that i jus turned 17. Anyway i bought "Consumer Reports used car yearbook for 1996-03 models". Its honestly a very helpfull guide but i dunno what to think when they listed the VW Jetta and VW Golf as "Used cars to avoid" and once again in "Repeat Offenders". . . Basicly calling them very unreliable cars. Before i read the "CP" i was considering both models, but at this point i no longer have the same views as i once had. I Currently decided to go with a '99 C-230 Kompressor, '98 C-280, or a '97/'98 328si. Due to the fact that nothing bad was said about them. What does everyone have to say about my decision? About the models i listed? and for the defence of the Jetta and the Golf? Basicly feel free to say anything.
