Old Merecedes...key word. Who cares? Unless it's a 300SL or something I'd do anything to it.

You arent going to find a mono class D amp that supplies a good 500rms @ 2ohm (what a single Volfenhag DVC demands) for under $150. One amp I highly recommend to run it is a Hifonics BX1000D (about $220). Best bang/buck amp.

Kicker makes excellent amps, but you might want to weigh your decision here...

The Kicker isn't new (refurbished) and will only put out between 400-450rms @ 2ohms. The Hifonics is about $50 more, puts out a good 100rms more @ 2ohms and is brand new. I'd get the Hifonics, the Volfenhag DVC is a very demanding power hungry subwoofer (the 500rms rating is actually conservative). I've seen that same woofer run on 600-750rms daily in sealed boxes and never once break. But if you're going to run it in a ported box then you'd be more happy around 450-550rms.

Well, if it's a large sealed box you might be okay (1.2-1.5 cu-ft) with the Kicker amp. But if it's a smaller sealed box (.8-1.2 cu-ft) you'll definatley want the extra power. If you throw the Volf in a small sealed box with only 400-450rms running to it, it simply wont pound to its ability. If price is really a big consideration I'd get this amp over the Kicker... It's a better amp (not power wise, but everything else wise it is).

Ah, I didnt know you lived in Hawaii. Sorry to hear you havent heard a response yet. I have never had to email them about anything. My orders have always got to my doorstep though within 3-5 work days of my order placement.

Try this place...they have the 12" Volf for $59 and I typed in a zip code for Hilo Hawaii and got $22 shipping (which is decent considering it's not part of the 48 state mainland and you're shipping 20+lbs).

I've heard good things about this place (they are actually authorized dealers of some of their stuff, kicker for one)...and have great prices.
