ABS Light

Damn, my ABS light is on It's not a big deal, but it bugs me just being ON all the time. What can I check to solve the main problem?

Another Question:
Taking the battery off the alarms little remote (to replace it) will screw up your cars alarm. Is this true? or just a myth?

the only thing it could possibly screw up is the programmed frequency of the remote itself ...

think of it this way .... if you take the remote 100kms away from the car, do you think anything you did to the remote would affect the alarm?

what type of car is it?

check fluid and then start looking at wheel sensor wires, etc.

Brake fluid is fine.

Should I check for a broken wheel sensor wire?Could you replace it?

It may also be a wheel that is spinning faster than the others and the wheel sensor is picking it up.

How can I fix that?

I may be a noob, but unless the wheel is smaller from the rest how the hell does it spin faster?

The wheel isn't smaller than the rest.

I should have mentioned this before.

When it's raining the floor is slippery, so if you hydroplane(skid) ABS locks up the tires for a faster and more maneuverable stop.

Some wheels don't lock up as fast as others, or might not lock up at all. The wheel may continue spinning while the other wheels are locked do to a problem in the ABS.

It's probably the speed sensors.

(Not sure if that's the problem in my car since I have never tried slamming my brakes in the RAIN at 60mph, especially when my ABS light is on.)

so ANTI-LOCK brakes cause the wheels to lock?

Becomes very very very close to locking up with the brakes keeping the tires very near the point at which they will start to lock up. This gives the system maximum braking power.(Anti Lock Braking System)

Actually really what it does is it actually does lock up the wheels, but as soon as the wheels lock up it releases it for a fraction of a second and then grabs again...

Yes, but that won't cause the problem of one wheel locking while the others spin ... that's the whole point of abs, as soon as one does start to lock, it releases.

And btw, hydroplaning is basically where the car "surfs" its own bow waves off the tires.
