He wouldnt need a loan if he got a STi....

For that kind of money he could get two STi's and have enough left over for a down payment on a house.

I have a better idea. Since it's so easy and smart to take out a loan for an $80k car when he already said he wants under $30k, then YOU take out the loan and GIVE the car to him.

Why do people insist on recommending extremely expensive options in cases like this?

And what's with the HUGE sig picture?

for $30k, i agree with stiman and say...STi. M3s are prety nice too, but BMW exterior styling is getting stale. i dont like the Z4 at all, butt ugly, $$$$, shitty ass performance. you'll get owned by an STi. for $30k, STi is best bang for the buck. Well, maybe the evo is better but who likes mitsu

id also look into the 350z for a real sporty or the G35 if you want performance + luxury, 4-door awd (or 2 dr rwd), and a great motor. Both are around $30k and both are nissans.

I know if I wanted a sports car, I certainly wouldn't buy a 4 door sedan.And if I wanted a 4 door sedan, I wouldn't ask about sports cars.

Nice sedan, but not a sports car. It's not really even a GT. But it IS a heck of a sedan...

Sports cars were defined by the FIA as 2 seat, open cars, for road racing use, with equipment for street use. They defined GT's as the same cars with a fixed roof or 2+2 seating. Sedans have a certain rear passenger volume OR rear doors (there are 2 door sedans, which were different from 2 door coupes). So there were separate classes for sedan racing.

It isn't an insult to call a sedan a sedan, or a GT a GT. Due to their stiffer structures and fixed roof, they were often more stable and more aerodynamic than the sports car variants. Doesn't make them sports cars any more than it makes them station wagons or pickup trucks.
