fuel pump fuse keeps blowing - buick regal

ok so here is the deal. i have a 1991 buick regal custom 3.8l v6.

I was driving on the freeway and the car just died. It will start for a second, but then die again. First i replaced the fuel pump because the last one was clogged, but after that the fuse started to blow when i would turn the key [just to turn on the battery but not the engine.] we troubleshooted to the gray wire which goes from the fuse to the fuel pump and replaced it but now it just runs for a minute or two and then pops the fuse. any ideas let me know. thanks!
