Power lose in the torque converter. The torque converter basically works like this; Take a box fan, turn it on. Point at at another box fan, but the second one is off. Place then facing each other, and the one thats on will propell the one thats off. Think of the one thats on as the engine and the one thats off as the transmission. Replace the wind with tranny fluid and thats about all there is too it. See the big power lose? That's my beef with it.
