Convertibles are fun, but I would probably never buy one unless it was a second or third car. T-tops are great but limited to a small amount of cars. I like a good sunroof. Some cars are getting panorama roofs now (like BMW's) where most of the roof is glass and retractable. Wave of the future I guess...

Heres a 545i that has it:

I prefer the removable roof panel like the C6 Corvette has or the Porsche Carrera GT's.

Once you drive a convertible, everything else is just jerking off. The only thing that beats a ragtop is a motorcycle.

Gotta agree with the Hobo here. I've had a lot of convertibles, and numerous cars with sunroofs. Right now, I'm driving the Fiat to work with the top down (the top is down on my converts if it isn't completely freezing or raining).

Sunroofs are second. T tops? Not a chance. (though I do like a good targa top on the right car)

So... my current fun car/commuter car? Convertible. My '63 Comet project? convertible. if I were to build another V8 RX7? I'd start with a convertible.

I'd chose Air conditioning in favour of a sunroof all day long, but I understand this thread's about 'wind in hair' lol, in that case, I much prefer convertibles to T-tops and sunroofs etc

I suppose it depends on the car for me. I like my t-tops for the 4th gen F-bodies. The convertibles just don't look right to me, top up or down.

I'd choose Ts over a sunroof anyday, T-tops kind of (but not quite) give you that 'vert feeling. Most cars however: convertible all the way.

Did you two take the time to read the man's question or are you starting your own new thread? He didn't ask about looks, he asked "I was just curious for soaking in rays what everyone here prefers?" For the life of me I can't find where he asked for your opinions on styling.

I think it still looks quite sporty. But **** it, your inside it. And most of the time, the top should be DOWN.

Damn, the only pic of the top up on my Daytona and some schmuckatelli is in the way...

I also happen to think cars like this still look sleek with the top up:

though my Comet will usually have the top down...

it should still look good with the top up.

But I guess if you want to say my cars look like crap, then I guess your gonna...

There. Now was that so hard? Much different statement than your earlier:

"all cloth convertible tops look like crap"

Some do indeed look less than pretty when up. But I always look at it in the fact that they were designed to fold away, and the car is designed to have the top DOWN. So what it looks like up is of minor importance to me.

Kind of like how certain hats don't look good, but they do the job. A firefighter's hat isn't pretty, but you put it on for a reason.

This is another one I like the looks up top up or down:
