"Appologies for driving within the law, Officer"
I was pulled over yesterday by the Police, and for something I wasn't sure was an offence....They pulled me for driving below the speed limit, lol. Here's what happened. I had just left my sister's house and was driving down her road. I drove past a Police car which had just entered the road. I mentally recorded this in my head, lol. Anyway I carried on driving, albeit extra cautiously because I knew a Police car was lurking about in the area (My speedo was registering as on the speed limit for the duration). I noticed headlights behind me at a set of traffic lights, this made me drive even more cautiously.
So eventually they pull me over (I was expecting this by now) and the Police Officer comes over to the car and tells me that they pulled me over because "Remarkably you were driving below the speed limit". I was pleased that when her collegue was checking the car, he didn't decide that my nearside rear tyre was illegal (it's very close, and if it was a Traffic unit they'd probably have torn the car apeart!). I was also a bit cross at the same time because you seem to be damned if you do, yet damned if you don't where the police are concerned. I mean, they'd no doubt have pulled me over if I was doing 5mph over the speed limit too. I could see where they were coming from, as not many people drive carefully these days, and by no doubt would if they knew they were being watched. I didn't tell the officer that I knew they were behind me, as I didn't want them to think I was hiding anything, lol. Oh well, at least I wasn't doing anything illegal.......not that I ever do. Just wanted to have a rant, albeit a slight one.

Our Police can pull a car over just from a gut feeling, I think they wanted me to be drunk, lol. They didn't even congratulate me....

Oh my god. I wish they would ticket people driving too slow on the interstate and people crusing in the left lane. I just want to ram their car out of my way. If I want to speed let me! .. ARGH.... Glad you didnt get a ticket though Cliffy.

I'd much rather be law abiding than be constantly looking at Motorway bridges and slip-roads for prowling Police cars. It is an offence to drive too slowly on Dual carriageways and motorways though, just as it is to drive too fast! (Too slow as in stupidly slow though, lol). By the way, I wasn't driving below the limit according to my speedometre, but there will always be a slight implication so the Police car's might have differed from mine (bear in mind that they probably didn't have VASCAR.....the recording equipment that traffic cars use)

i hate when cops drive near you and everyone around you feels they have to go 5-10 miles under the speed limit. The other day I drove 9 miles at 35mph in a 40 and 45 zone because a cop was in the other lane the whole time

Oh I hate that too! Just last night on the way to dinner there was a state trooper in the right lane and EVERYONE was doing 65 on I-10... I'm not afraid to actually do the limit and pass them up at 70-75... They arent going to ticket you for 5 over or even 10 on the I-10.

The Police on our Motorways have to travel at 55mph or there abouts (limit is 70mph), as they are patrolling. They obviously don't lways do this though, lol. If a police car is doing a few miles per hour under the speed limit on a Motorway or dual carriageway I overtake them at the speed limit, I think this just makes you look as if you have nothing to hide. I used to do it more openly in our work vehicles as I knew there was nothing wrong with them as they were nearly new (plus they were marked vehicles).

I wouldn't cry...Sure it would save me a couple of bucks, but I would embarrass myself in front of a guy I've never met before.
