Navigator or Durango

We are looking at 2002/2003 model Navigators vs. 2005 Durango's....aside from the obvious warranty issue, anyone heard any pro's or con's regarding these two vehicles? Saftey for small children a high priority as well....Any help would be appreciated...

Thanks-

My aunt used to have a navigator, and they are SUPER luxurious. Plus they look great. The durangos though "that thing got a hemi?"....The answer is yes.

So I dunno, I would personally buy the navi, just cause they are soooo damn nice.

I liked the Navigator I sat in a year or two back, Lincolns tend to have less reliability issues and have better build quality than Dodges so that's a plus. I personally don't like the new Durango, looks too minivan-like (see GM's full line of boxy minivans). Personally, I would get the Navigator, but in that segment a sa good alternative might be the MDX, it wont have the power of the Navigator (265hp vs. 300hp) but has an excellent interior, 3rd row seating and looks great. Plus, gets top ratings in almost anything safety speaking. A new one starts at $37k.

Now without opening awhole can of worms, after speaking to the better half, the Escalade came up...not the full size, I guess the smaller or mid size one.
First child on the way, (and of course i just assume buy her an M1 tank to roam the streets), so the size of the vehicle seems to be a concern for her as well...
I like the MDX, and I think it's still sporty enough that we'll both enjoy driving it- but again the concern of mid sized SUV vs. Full Size...
What do you think?

By any chance have you looked into the Nissan Armada? I've ridden in one about 4 times and it was DAMN nice.

What do you think?

If you want full size the Infiniti QX56 is really nice.

Really why do you NEED full-size if several mid-sizers offer third rows. Plus with only small kids you can utilize the third row no problem.

I'd save a few grand and get an MDX.

I like the Armada...but that along with Qx56 seem huge. That might be more vehicle than we need. I know the Navigator (i think) is considered Full sized...I think that or the Escalade might be the only two Full sized - but we probably want to go for the mid sized SUV (i'm liking the MDX post....)

I'm open to suggesstions...any others you guys can think of?

Thanks again!

Mid Size vs. Full Size

I'd pick Mid Size for a couple of reasons.
GAS
Safety- ex. full size SUV's are more likely too tip over the Mid sized ones.
You have more than enough room with a mid size .
(Your not planning on having 20 kids anytime soon are you??)
There's more Mid-saze lux trucks than full size.
GM vs. BMW/MB/Acura/Lexus

Infiniti FX35/45
Nissan Murano
Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer

Test drive some and take your pick.

Acura MDX and Lexus RX330/400H

My mom has the RX 330 and it's really nice. I would suggest that and if u can afford the new Rx 400 H is also good. Out of your two i would pick the NAvigator. I personally also like the Murano.
