Rear axle seep

I just bought a truck and it has a rear axle seep, whatever that is. I was told it's not a real big deal because all trucks with a lot of miles on it, has some kind of seep & that the seep my truck has is actually good compared to what it should be. They said it wouldn't effect the truck in the future. Is this all true?
