Oh. Because you didn't expect someone to google an answer to a question that was to a statement YOU made.

Dumb ass

"surely they dont steer manually"

How else can you steer. You dont just tell the car to turn, you have to move the wheel. The difference between power steering and non is that non is harder to turn, but you wouldnt know about that with your expensive cars

He's making conversation. Do you stop to google things during conversations?

No need to get all nasty.

It sounded like a dickhead remark to me.

Ok, you control the power steering but the power steering is still steering for you. That's like saying I shift gears manually in my car (which is an automatic) by how hard I hit the gas when accelerating.

It's just a retarded thing to say.

Well, no... newyorker is right. Actually in 99.9999999% of cars with power steering, the driver IS doing the steering. The power system only provides hydraulic or electrical assistance to make it easier to move the wheel. Can you name any production cars that have "steering by wire" or purely hydraulic steering systems? Off the top of my head, neither can I.

For someone who's profile say's he "don't know crap about cars", you're either doing a real poor job of pretending you do or you're just trying to confirm the statement. Good job.

Like hobo said, its just a system that makes it easier to steer. You still turn the wheel, but it makes it "lighter"

Power windows use electric motors to move the windows.

Was that too much for your brain to compute?

not all of them are electric though! the Mercedes 600 Pullman had hydraulic power windows to make it less noisy, or not noisy at all!

How about power assist windows. That would be neat.
