1999 Jetta GLS VR6, Help please!

Hey I just got this car (First car wewt wewt!). Anyways I'm having trouble w/ the lock system ... the car locks/unlocks when i'm in it but when i locked it last night i tried to get in it today and the key wont turn the lock. my parents drove it up to the dealer and he said it may because I don't have my remote (this was the first day I got it because they got locked out of it on the highway and luckily the trunk was unlocked). I wouldn't think you would have to have one. I just want back in my car. any advice please?

If the key won't turn, the locks may have been changed, (and all you really have is an ignition key). does the '99 have a lock cylinder on the passenger side? If so, does it turn at all in that door? FYI, Don't let someone talk you into getting a remote. I'm pretty sure that to program it, you need to turn the key in the door for programming.

Well, it does start the ignition. and it won't turn the lock. How would I get a key for the door, to unlock it?

Either the dealer, and they will probably want to replace them, or you may find a good locksmith, but most of them can't make the 'sidewinder' key from scratch. Good luck!

Yep, the VW is only a '99 model, it's not like it's from the '70's.
