Unhappy 1990 Toyota Celica GT Reverse Gear is out

Hi...I have a 1990 Toyota Celica GT that I've had for 7 years and have never had a problem with it what-so-ever...until it just quit going into reverse. Everything else works fine...you can drive it down the street and not know anything is wrong with it until you try to back up. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong before I just trash it?

1 of 2 things are wrong, 1. linkage is so worn out that it wont go into reverse or 2. the transmission finally quit on you. how many miles are on it???

Doesnt matter if its a Toyota, or a Honda, or a Nissan, or a Ford. Youre going to have to deal with this sort of thing sooner or later.
