300zx ... advanced valve timing?

i dont claim to know near anything about engines, but i read somewhere that if the timing belt were adjusted, and the valve timing advanced, it would bring more torque? Im just trying to find ways to make my 300zx a little more torquey than it is. Any suggestions on other things would also be helpfull. and oh yeah, i know its not worth it to upgrade a N/A, but im still going to because its all i have.

Heres a good pic, what do you think?

it may work, but that the same time you risk blowing up your motor...
