KTR- The death highway

Quote:
Copied from an internet site:

IP5--between Aveiro and Vilar Formoso on the Spanish border. Its name is coldly bureaucratic: IP5. But to Portuguese drivers it is known as the death highway. Since it was built with European funds 10 years ago, more than 300 people have died along the IP5 motorway, the main northern link between Portugal and Spain.
It is very dangerous with possibilities of head on collisions caused by bad road design and imprudent overtaking. The IP5 death toll is unsurprising. The road descends sharply from a mountain range virtually to sea level, it has numerous hairpin bends, poorly placed road signs and stretches where the divisions between lanes are unclear. In winter ice is common. And although it is Portugal's main link to the rest of Europe, most of the road is single-lane.

Tomorrow (04-07-04) I'm travelling through this road. I'm scared
I'll be in Portugal for 6 or 7 days. If I take any interesting picture I'll show you when I'll be back.

See you!!

It cannot be so difficult. The instruction manual will tell me which pedal is the 'velocitator' and which one is the... 'deceleratrix' (by Mr. C.M. Burns)
May God bless those who have nothing to say and, furthermore, they keep quiet (by someone)

I'm back!

Hi everybody! I've survived

After all, Portuguesse roads are not so dangerous and they have good highways even though they are expensive (too many toll-roads --about US$18 to travel less than 180 miles).

I took some pictures with my future brother in law's digital camera. Now I'm waiting for him to e-mail me that photos. When I'll get them I'll do a photo-report .

Bye!
