Thats exactly what I was thinking. I race cars that I should be beating and they beat me. My frineds altima 99 picks up waaaay faster than my car and theoretically it has 10 less ponies. What does the tneup include and how much does it cost?

....10 less ponies is so mimimal a difference where if that is the sole reason you believe you should be beating him you need to learn ALOT more about cars.

Well if you put it that way, then we have the same Redline and im guessing that the altima weighs more. So I am really clueless, but I am more concerned about the gas milage than me beating my friend.

I'd say start with a tune-up if nothing else, spark plugs, wires, all that crap, maybe a new fuel filter.

EDIT: Please give me the specs (Year, exact full name of the car, manual or auto, etc) on your, and your friend's nissan so I can check something.

Gearing, tires, aerodynamics, driver skill. More than horses and weight that matters.

Would using higher octane gas make a difference? Its 2.51 here. I fill at shell, and they got the V-Power stuff. Doubt that will make a big difference, but maybe better performance or longer engine life. How about the fuel filters. How much does it cost to get that job done.

man, why pay someone to do plugs and wires. so much easier to do yourself.

the other thing i recommend is using throttle body cleaner - about 4$ a can at any auto store. definitely cleans the crap outta there, gives you a nice boost and some increased mileage(hell if it can help a gas eating truck, im sure it can help your neon)

Here is what im thinking. I got an oil change coming soon, so im gona use the engine block cleaner. But first il use the STP fuel injector cleaner with Jet Fuel. I heard it works wonders. If none of that helps, il get a new fuel filter and then the MSD coil, plugs, and wires.
