Hiding Radar Detectors When Not In Use

Where do you guys all hide your radar detectors when your not using them? I drive a 1996 Geo Prizm, so it doesnt have any high-tech alarm systems to go off, and the car has been broken into before. At school, should I take it out and put it in my backpack? Put it in the glove compartment? Just leave it on the hook on my windshield?

Where do you guys all hide your radar detectors?

You shouldn't be speeding...especially in a Geo Prizm.

Your first post should be an intro in the Introduce Yourself forum.

basically instead of just keeping their radar on all the time, police target individual cars and then nail the radar as the car is going by them, thus defeating radar detectors.

IMO, RD's give the driver a false sense of security...it would make my keen eye less sensitive.

I've been driving for over 20 years...no speeding tickets!! (knock on wood!) and only one moving violation. One no seatbelt ticket. I pride myself in knowing the hiding places. If I'm not sure...I don't speed. Simple.

eh, sorry i didnt post in the introduce myself forum. Seems kind of silly? Maybe not, but regardless, apologies. I will go introduce myself now. Trust me, I've gotten the joke about having a Geo Prizm too many times.

This car is a hand me down, it was originally my older brothers, who has passed it on down to me... and my older brother was always doing 60 in 35 zones and what not... and he bought a radar detector. Well, I have inherited the car, and with it the detector. I don't speed alot myself, but if I have it (for free), why not use it? Being that my car does not sit in its own garage, and its out on the street... I'm just curious as to where to hide it when not in use (sitting on the street, people are more likely to see it and be tempted to break into the car and steal it). Thanks

EDIT: Hey SuperJew... happy passover, im Jewish as well

Or Pesach as it's known to those of us who have a little Hebrew vocabulary.

not quite defeating them... even with instant on, they still serve a purpose. If a police officer is sitting on the side of a road trying to catch people speeding, say I'm a 3/4 of a mile from where this officer is. He shoots his gun at someone he thinks is going over the speed limit. Well, even though hes not shooting his gun at me, I've picked up the signal that hes shooting his gun 3/4 a mile away, giving me more than enough time to slow down.

OK, so assuming you guys had radar detectors. Where should I hide it when not in use (say for example while I'm at school)? Glove compartment or backpack?
