1987 Chev Sprint 1.0 Litre Idling Real Rough
Good day to all here!
First visit to the forum to post. Looking forward to all of your insights on the subject.
I am 43 years old and although I am not a mechanic, but know a little about how an engine should run. My 1987 Chevrolet Sprint with the Suzuki 1.0 (non-turbo) engine cranks and idles very well when cold. Two to three minutes into the drive, the idle gets extremely rough until the engine quits at a stop sign situation. Then, when I am cruising at 55 mph or so, the engine skips intermittently for about 3 minutes then smooths out for about 20 seconds then cycles back to skipping. This cycle happens like clockwork...too repetitious to be by coincidence. Something is making it cycle that way.
I have replaced all of the following in an effort to find the problem: Spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button, oxygen sensor, timing belt, gas filter, air filter, all belts.
No change in any of the characteristics of the engine that I have described after installing these parts.
The engine just runs too good when it is cold. The horsepower that it has when it runs smooth during cruising speed is excellent. There must be a sensor, relay, valve of some type or something else making it act this way.
Please help.
Sincerely,
Al Henderson

If you are 43 I think you are smart enough to go to the introduce yourself section and do it properly

Integra99's mode of communication is unacceptable
Integra99:
You show your limited vocabulary when you use expletives rather than meaningful words to communicate. You should be using the emoticons if you have a legitimate problem with a user here.
You broke rule #6 when you used the "B" word. That word is one of my most hated words. It demeans the user and the one it is used for.
Also, no where in the list of Forum Rules and Regulations does it list that a person MUST or SHALL post an introductory post.
However, since I am a guest here, I have already posted an introduction.
If you want persons to follow your rules, please ammend the rules. If you are proud of your posts, please conclude your posts with your real name.
Sincerely,
Al Henderson

Ehhh I didn't say the "B" word and I posted my request for you to introduce yourself properly before you did it.
And you want me to post my name, fine
Sincerely,
Steven Bradl

Please read the signature line below you advertisement. You "say" the "B" everytime you post.
Also, why do you post an advertisement in your signature line, but forbid others to do so? Looks hypocritical to me.

Let's Get Back to the Original Question
Integra99:
Thank you for your replies. Good to have a meaningful dialog and conclusion to the initial problem. I apologize for flaming the subject.
Now, can we go back to the initial post?
All:
Hey! I need help with this pesky engine. Please chime in!
Sincerely,
Al Henderson
