Okay, it's been a while and I dont know what link you're looking for, so elaborate on that.

That JVC head is, bleh to me.... It only has 2v pre-outs and JVC is just a pretty non-standout brand with HU's. I'd suggest this one over it (only $30 more) http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14898 .

Obcon Enclosures can be found at www.sounddomain.com

The GZ318-12 is your best bet ($69.95 once added to cart).

I also recommend this Kicker amp to power it...

awesome all is good so far, and my last and final question would be what amp do u recommend for the coax speakers? (thersw 4) you said a 4 channel amp and hifonics is best, i found these 2, with only a few bucks in between, which u recommend?

http://ikesound.com/product-product_id/1503 looks like this is the better deal

That second $155 TX amp is more than enough for a set of 6.5" co-ax speakers... The ZX6400 is a 85x4rms amp and that's too much power for any mid-range 6.5" coaxial speaker. The 55x4rms power the TX provides is just what you're looking for.

My dads car has 2 3.5 inch speakers up front, built in. so he was wondering what are THE BEST, top of the line 3 1/2 inch speakers? (yes yes 3.5, its an old/classic mercedes 560sl)

and should he get an amp, he has 2 cerwin-vegas (6x9) in the back?

for the 3.5"(coaxial) what I would recommend is something from either Infinity, MB Quartz, or Focal(if they have any that small). I know Infinity and MB Quartz do, and they're two of the top companies for sound quality.

the other option is a 3.5" component speaker(separate tweeter), but that would require modification to the dash to install the tweeter. But good luck finding those...

As for powering the Cerwins....what kind of HU does he have, and what series Cerwins are they? I mean, if you want them to sound awesome, and have some real power, then yes, feeding them 50watts rms(for example) will definitely help that. And if he's looking for quality, go with a higher end amp, most likely a digital one at that.

You can fit 4"/4.5" speakers in 3.5" slots, not difficult and its what i recommend you do.

For the best co-ax speakers in that size I'd look into these...

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12434

or

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12492

or

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13538

And, yes. Definatley amp those up.

The infinity doesnt really have better specs than the others. Each one will handle about the same frequencies and it really just comes down to cosmestics when finally choosing (personally I'd get the Diamond Audio).

To power them I'd get a very clean 2-channel amp..maybe one of these...

Rockford Fsgate punch subs are great, I have some in my Mustang. As for amps, MTX Thunder amps are great. I use a Rockford Fosgate MP3/CD deck as well, and it has unbelieveable clarity.

@thunder: he may have trouble stuffing a 4.5" into those holes...some really only do hold the 3.5"...

as for cosmetics, if theyre going in dash, then that really doesnt matter much, does it?

about amps: I would recommend alpine, kicker, or audison, most definitely the audison. although rockford does make good amps, they really only make good sub amps...

The only thing that would be a problem is mounting depth. Hole Diameter can be fixed easily. Sometimes mounting depth can be solved easily (spacers) and sometimes out comes the custom kickplates...
